A strange, hysterical thriller in which, surprisingly, several of the players actually manage to contribute reasonable performances in the face of a quite laughable script. Oliver Reed, Paul Koslo and Raymond Burr, in particular, all contrive to maintain our belief in totally lunatic characters, simply by controlled underplaying. Susan George and Stephen McHattie fare less well as hostage and deranged gunman respectively, but then they are up against the worst of the script. Director Peter Collinson never shirks the flashy effects, and the slow motion at the end is particularly meretricious.
