The second in Clint Eastwood's Western trilogy. Pipe-smoking, deadly bounty hunter Colonel Douglas Mortimer (Lee Van Cleef) arrives in the Texas town of El Paso after collecting the reward on his latest victim. He meets another bounty hunter, The Stranger (Eastwood), and, without quite trusting each other, the two men agree to join forces in pursuit of Indio, (Gian Maria Volonte), a deranged killer who has escaped from prison and seems to be planning to rob the El Paso bank. This one's particularly memorable for the scenes in which Eastwood and Van Cleef shoot off each other's hats, and where Van Cleef strikes a match on Klaus Kinski's 'hump'. Terrific stuff, with yet another splendid Ennio Morricone score.
