Sam Raimi, who made The Evil Dead trilogy, and maverick film makers Joel and Ethan Coen combine their talents here to make a comedy. And it's terrible! Stick to the serious stuff, boys. Raimi and the Coens reveal themselves here as admirers of The Three Stooges, whose poke-in-the-eye direct style of comedy is yoked to a would-be Airplane! of film noir, about two 'exterminators' (Paul Smith and Brion James) on a robbery and killing spree. The result? Didn't we tell you already? It's terrible! Unless you fancy a good sleep, stay away. The timing is crashing, the actors contort their faces desperately to try and make something of it and, to their credit, in the last 10 minutes they almost do. You may just spot the soon-to-be star-billed Frances McDormand as a nun.
