This time James Bond goes East to try to avert World War III. Lewis Gilbert directs the plentiful action in fine style, while designer Ken Adam did everyone especially proud by, at the time, the largest interior set ever constructed in Europe Blofeld's villainous lair deep inside a Japanese volcano. Donald Pleasence is smoothly vicious as Bond's arch nemesis and there's plenty of action and gadgets to get the juices flowing. Little Nellie, a speedy one-seat autogyro in which Bond (Sean Connery) does battle with a fleet of helicopters is probably the most exciting moment in the film, as 007 investigates who is intercepting US and Soviet space capsules.
