Who Deserved Their Oscar?
Poll reveals those who most deserved their Oscar gong and those who should never have been honoured in such a way!In tune with Oscar fever, Total Film Magazine in association with Sky Movies, invited the public to select their all-time Oscar winning favourites and those who plainly didn't really deserve a golden statue.
The Godfather (1972) was voted as the best film, beating off competition from Casablanca (1942) and Schindler's List (1993).
The top acting honours went to Robert De Niro for his performance in Raging Bull (1980), with Jack Nicholson and Marlon Brando coming in second and third respectively.
In the ladies' category, Jodie Foster was voted as the most worthy of her Oscar for her role in Silence Of The Lambs (1991), Katharine Hepburn and Meryl Streep were also up there amongst the greats.
Steven Spielberg managed to pip The Godfather's Francis Ford Coppola to the post for being the most deserving director for his 1993 film, Schindler's List.
It wasn't such good news for Gwyneth Paltrow or Russell Crowe though - they were nominated as the least deserving best actress (Shakespeare In Love) and actor (Gladiator).
Also deemed as not worthy of their Oscar statue was James Cameron for his efforts on Titantic (1997) - the Oscar-winning film that voters also decided was a pile of rubbish.
