Written by and starring US comedy troupe Broken Lizard, Super Troopers doesn't seem to promise much, following the exploits of a group of bored state troopers.
You know the sort - wear beige, Burt Reynolds' nemesis in the Smokey And The Bandit movies, who pass their time by playing stupid pranks on unsuspecting motorists.
Plot-wise, that's it, really. There's some stuff about them fighting to save their station from being closed down while trying to beat the local cops in the solving of a drug-related murder.
But let's be honest, they're not kidding anyone.
What the film lacks in plot, it more than makes up for in laughs. Don't think Police Academy, think National Lampoon's Animal House, Kids In The Hall and, of course, Caddyshack.
There are a couple of familiar faces in here, but it's as if a group of mates got together and decided to make a movie for a laugh.
This certainly isn't a criticism, as the vibe adds to the enjoyment immensely.
Whether they're freaking out stoned teenage drivers, pulling over kinky European swinging couples or attacking the 'burger punk' in the local fast food joint, the cast look like they had as much fun making the movie as you will watching it.
This movie, shot for $3m, is laugh-your-ass-off stuff.
A friend of mine almost had an asthma attack, he was laughing so much. I wish I could tell you what they were laughing at, but children may be reading this. Needless to say, when a man and a bear love each other...
Moving swiftly along, this movie has cult written all over it and will likely find its biggest audience on video and DVD - handy, as most people will miss half the gags, they'll be laughing so much.
But you should consider it your duty to apprehend this film as soon as you can. In fact, why are you still reading this?
