An affectionately cheesy (no pun intended) straight-to-video horror thriller which, thankfully, doesn't churn the stomach too much.
Stereotypes and clichés abound, though, in this tale (another pun unintended) of a hunky, gung-ho rat-catcher (Vincent Spano) and a feisty department store manager (Mädchen Amick) who team up to rid New York of the genetically-altered rodents that have escaped from a lab and are poised to overrun the city.
There's too much threat and not enough horror for aficionados, but the adventure builds well.
Nicely entertaining.
