Actor/producer Chris Rock may have created a fleetingly amusing character in hip-hop hero and scourge of corporate America Pootie Tang (Lance Crouther) - first seen on Rock's TV show - but making a movie out of this one-joke wonder was a mistake. Unintelligible poseur Pootie is surrounded by adoring friends, family and fans (including Wanda Sykes and Rock in several roles) until an evil businessman (Robert Vaughn) and sidekick (Jennifer Coolige) trick him into endorsing their unhealthy products. Too obvious to be funny.
