Niki Caro

Caro's international breakthrough was Whale Rider - the tale of Maori tradition versus the modern world.
Her directorial debut Memories and Desire was selected for the prestigious critics' week at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival and was voted best film in the 1999 New Zealand Film Awards.
Her shorter films, Footage and Sure To Rise were also well received.
Caro's TV work The Summer The Queen Came earned her nominations for best writer and best director in the 1994 NZ Film and Television Awards.
Plain Tastes, a theatre drama, was nominated in the 1996 NZ Film and Television Awards.
