This is a slow-burning, but captivating thriller from first time director Matt Dillon. He also takes the central role of a con man who flees New York to seek out his partner in crime (James Caan). Arriving in Cambodia he meets a ragtag group of people (Gerard Depardieu, Natasha McElhone and Stellan Skarsgard), all seemingly hostile or mysterious and the further he delves into modern-day Phnom Penh, the darker and more dangerous things become. Full of stunning scenery and impressively made, this is an intriguing film.
