Alexander Witt

The vastly experienced second unit director made the shift to the hot seat with the sci-fi thriller Resident Evil: Apocalypse.
A crack cinematographer known for his high-octane car chases and action setpieces, his work includes The Italian Job, xXx, The Bourne Identity and Gladiator.
He made his debut as second unit director of photography with Speed in 1995 and followed up with Twister and Inspector Gadget (in which he also had a cameo role as a businessman).
Born to third generation Germans in Chile, Witt moved to Mexico and then to Europe, where he worked for camera company Arriflex as a trainee in the sound department.
He progressed to camera assistant and then began directing commercials in the late 1980s before geting the call from Jan de Bont for Speed.
