William H Macy is excellent as a salesman with cerebral palsy in this inspiring true story that begins in the 1950s. Bill Porter (Macy) begs a job with a sales company and works hard to overcome the prejudices of his potential customers. As his ailing mother and his forthright assistant, Helen Mirren and Kyra Sedgwick provide effective support and the tale contains moving moments while skilfully avoiding sentimentality.
