Chinese-American actress Tina Chen gives the performance of a lifetime here, but it isn't enough to redeem this Charlton Heston/Hawaii period romance from mediocrity. After a meaty, promising first hour, it fades into a rambling, scrappy 70 minutes that succeed in dissipating the feelings director Tom Gries has succeeded in conjuring up this far.
