Not a bad film, but not great either, despite being based on a Dashiell Hammett short story and starring Samuel L Jackson, with Milla Jovovich and Stellan Skarsgard in support.
The problem with this crime thriller is that it's several shades too unlikely.
Jackson plays a music-loving, diabetic cop, who stumbles across a bizarre gang of bank robbers while on the trail of someone else.
None of the relationships are credible, and the situations become increasingly preposterous: as if, for instance, Jovovich - in charge of holding Jackson hostage - would run to his home for his insulin, after he falls into a diabetic coma and, instead of hurrying back, struggles to bring him his beloved cello...
