Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
In a visually stunning but dramatically numbing sci-fi adventure, heroic pilot Jude Law teams up with Gwyneth Paltrow's plucky reporter to save the world from marauding giant robots. If the dialogue frequently crashes and burns there are so many reasons not to bail out, not least the soaring special effects and Angelina Jolie giving it her best 'roger and out'. Tally ho!
Dominic, please, watch a film to enjoy it or dont watch it! That is truly the most contrived piece of banality I have ever seen. Sky Captain is 100% pure nonsense (dire dialogue? It was supposed to be!) and 100% pure fun. Enjoyed the look of the movie, the very old fashioned simple nature of its heroes and villains. Fantastic fun. People, dont take any notice of this claptrap review (bet this guy thinks Star Wars doesnt push the boundaries of character acting far enough either) and go watch!

I do not recognise the film described by Mr Dominic Bloch. He must have spent all his time looking for faults instead of just sitting back and enjoying a good old fashioned comic book story, brought to life in a most fantastic way on the big screen. If it mimics anything, it is Flash Gordon meets Thunderbirds. The effects are stunning and the robots are similar to War of the Worlds, so have a go at Mr Welles as well Mr Bloch if you are unhappy. Just go, take your kids, sit back, watch, and enjoy
