The Ring
The Hollywood version of one of Japan's biggest box office hits tells the story of a videotape that kills anyone who watches it within seven days.
This film is EXTRA scary. the film is ok but the music is really jumpy so I reccomend don't watch it alone and don't watch it really loud ESPECIALLY at night! But good film.
Hannah Harris
This film is scary, and I would watch it agen but it's quite scary, no VERY scary.
David Taylor
This is without a doubt the first film that has ever truly scared me.
Jane Norris
I'm afraid i had to watch this twice. The first time i was really engrossed in it and was quite afraid! The second time I watched it to try and work out what it was all about! Some good shocks along the way and good acting.
Kat Harris
Boring film, not very good at all. So many people had told me this film was wonderful, so I thought I must watch it but I was very disappointed! The original's better but still not the amazing film everyone has made it out to be.
Aimie Elvin
The Ring was a very complicated movie but even when I thought I didn't understand it, I still found it kind of scary and it made me jump a lot!
Marella Robinson
Really scary, just when you thought all was safe...

Japanese horrors are always known to be subtle yet more horrifying - the smooth way they inject themselves into the mind so that the imagery returns later when you least expect or want it, is always a trademark, and this American remake of the Japanese Ringu maintains this very important aspect. The movie has beautiful cinematography, a compelling story but most important of all, manages to convey the deepest horror turning your own imagination against you. One of the top horrors bar none.

This is one of those films that require you to see it from the characters' point of view. An emotional turmoil is the main cause of fear in this film, so if you're an objective viewer, you might not find it as scary. This holds true to most 'unrealistic' films in a sense that you'll only find it good if you get inside the story, as if you're in it, instead of watching it as an audiance. The way tension builds up is well done, although perhaps not quite as good as the original.
Claire Dunning
I think the flim was really good - not scary at all! I like the whole mystery that was in the film about the killer video type, where if you watch the video you get a phone call saying you will die in 7 days and the woman watches it...
Tim Groombridge
In my humble opinion, this remake deserves scrutiny for the film in it's own right - rather than comparisons with the orginal. I found the characters convincing, the visuals incredibly provocative and I found the dark undertones of the story a fantastic antidote to the multitude of mediocre horror films of the moment that frequently fail to scare. Subtle combinations of disturbing set pieces and jump out of your seat moments ensure The Ring is an assured and brooding example of how to scare.
Karen McCreadie
Sadly I had listened to the hype about this film and was expecting something clever and impressive. Instead the film is rather lame and the acting not convincing. sorely disappointing.
Steve Barnett
Sorry, but this film is nowhere near as good as the original. The beauty of the original was that it left questions unanswered. But all the subtlety of the film has been lost in this remake. And what is the point of the menacing voice saying 'You will die in seven days'? and the Horse????
Mmmmmm! Give me Sadako anyday and you can keep Samara. Don't get me wrong Daveigh Chase gave a really chilling performance and she was by far the best performer in the film. But Sadako, for me, is the best.
