This historical drama covers several decades in the life of military strategist Daniel Ellsberg (James Spader) who stood out as a great US patriot in the early Sixties but quickly became disillusioned with Washington.
At first a strong supporter of military action over Vietnam, he soon came to criticise the way the US public was informed about what was really going on during that ill-fated conflict.
Accused of treason by the Nixon administration, Ellsberg finds himself in the middle of the Watergate scandal and turning the tables on the President.
Despite its interesting subject matter, this is a bland, over-wordy drama with lukewarm performances and nothing really new to say.
