A Bear Named Winnie

Wildlife adventure based on the true story of the bear at London Zoo which inspired author AA Milne to write his Winnie the Pooh stories. Canadian Army vet Harry Colebourn (Michael Fassbender) rescues an orphaned black bear cub en route to fight in World War One and names her Winnipeg, or Winnie for short. He smuggles her to England...but they can go no further. A touching tale.

A charming family film based on the true story of Winnie, the bear who was the inspiration for AA Milne's famous creation, Winnie the Pooh.

In a touching, beautifully-acted story, we see how Canadian Army vet Harry Colebourn (Michael Fassbender) rescues an orphaned black bear cub en route to fight in World War One and names her Winnipeg, or Winnie for short.

The two bond strongly - so be prepared for some tear-jerking moments as Harry smuggles her as far as England, but can go no further with his furry friend...

A sweet, gentle film with some heart-wrenching moments, but thankfully, a happy ending.
