Jeff Bridges produces and appears in a cameo, while his older brother Beau stars as a 'downsized' assembly-line worker, in this well-meaning cable movie tackling an issue most movies skirt around - hunger in America. The sacked Beau won't take any handouts, even when his wife's illness drains all his resources, and he takes a fast-food job to feed his young kids (Jena Malone and Shelton Dane). Then doctor Bruce Davison steps in, taking over colleague Jeff Bridges's three days' donated time at the local community clinic, as Beau's daughter gets sick with malnutrition. A must-see, intelligent heartwarmer with lots of the right feeling and information coming over loud and clear, yet still subtly delivered in a rare script that knows exactly what it's doing. Beau Bridges, always in the shade of Jeff, once again shows what a fine actor he really is; Davison and Malone (the daughter in Stepmom) are impeccable too.
