David (Friends) Schwimmer and Gwyneth Paltrow star in this rather lightweight comedy about a young man asked to be a pallbearer at the funeral of a college colleague he can't actually remember. But he does recall his college crush (Paltrow). He is also left a car by the deceased and finds himself seduced by the grieving mother (Barbara Hershey). There are parallels with The Graduate here, but Schwimmer is no Dustin Hoffman and the script is nowhere near as sharp. And Paltrow, Hershey and Toni Collette give him rather more competition than he can handle. So it's pleasant enough entertainment for fans of the stars, but nothing special. Schwimmer may be OK as a TV star, but he doesn't seem to have enough of what it takes to fill the big screen.
