Sky Movies F.A.Qs
We get a hundred emails a day from customers wanting to know more about Sky, from Sky Movies to Sky Sports. The range of questions is vast. But sometimes you might find someone has asked the question before you. So check these Q and As before writing, you might be able to solve the problem right now!If you want to write in to the Editor then I'm happy to field your email. But the volume of mails makes it awfully difficult to keep up, so why not see if your question can be answered by reading the FAQs below!
Before we go any further, you must check two things:
1. Have you registered with Sky.com? You can download the application, but you cannot watch movies until you have registered with Sky.com!
2. Have you got the full Sky Movies package? If not, you will not be able to see a download button until you have subscribed to the full thing!
If you are still having problems and the above doesn't apply to you, call Sky Anytime Customer Services on 0870 6094508.
The last one you guys wrote to me about was: The Sky Movies pre-launch trailer (the one with all the whistling!). It's called Young Folks by Peter, Bjorn and John.
Sometimes people wonder why we have so many kids films on during the day. It's simple - we can't show adult films until adult times! But now we have pin protected channels, we can show more movies earlier in the day without fear of the kids watching!
Your PIN is usually the last four digits of your viewing card. If this doesn't work you might want to call customer services and ask them to change it to a number you'll easily remember!
The best way to check is to find the film on the website. If it's going to be repeated in the next 14 days, the showing time will be listed at the top of the review. If you can't find it there, send us an email and we'll do our best to respond.
Alas, no. We have specific agreements with the studios that produce all the big films to show certain movies. If we are not showing a movie it is because we haven't got the rights to show it, so the chances are we won't be able to get it any time soon.
No! We are primarily a bunch of writers and have almost nothing to do with customer services. We do our best to field questions and point people (and their emails) in the right direction, but in order to deal with the specifics of your account you will need to call Sky Customer Services or visit sky.com!
First of all you need to be a Sky Movies subscriber through Sky Digital (not NTL and so on). Then you need to sign up to Sky.com, then download the software. You can find out more here .
If you are having technical problems with the service, you will want to check this out before writing in. Some of the issues people discovered when installing were also resolved by visiting here. While most people have a trouble free time, we take all Sky by broadband problems seriously, so if you are having a nightmare, write in to us and we'll do our best to help!
Unfortunately, no! This can be done via www.sky.com or by calling customer services!
This is a very rare occurrence, particularly as we have people checking the channels as they go out live. But every now and then customers might notice an issue that we haven't. So send us a mail and let us know if there's something wrong with the movie - just be sure it isn't your box or dish!
All movies on Sky Movies must meet certain rules and regulations. If the BBFC decided a movie needed cutting several years ago, such as Die Hard With A Vengeance, we have to show the version they deemed fit. It is very rare that Sky Movies would choose to edit a movie, particularly if it's after the watershed. Obviously, if a movie is generally fit for early viewing, we will remove certain scenes and expletives to make it possible for a younger audience to enjoy!
You can keep a movie for up to a week before you watch it. After seven days, the movie will automatically delete. Once you have begun watching it, you have 24 hours to finish viewing before the movie self destructs! Or, at least, deletes.
