Peter Sellers gives one of his best performances and was Oscar nominated as TV-obsessed illiterate gardener Chance who's forced out of his sheltered existence and ends up US presidental candidate after a series of misunderstandings. Funny and touching, Sellers convinces that his simple-minded slogans could be the true wisdom in this expertly handled, super satire. Veteran Melvyn Douglas took the film's Oscar as the tycoon who befriends Sellers. Sellers mimicked Stan Laurel for Chance's vocals. .
