A `disaster' movie of a more intimate nature, as farmer George Kennedy chains himself up to protect his family, fearing madness from the bite of a rabid skunk - then hears of an impending flood. If this all sounds a bit laughable, then the taut direction of Gordon Hessler and fevered performances from Kennedy and Joanna Pettet (as his wife) ensure that you'll be hanging on by the fingernails for a good chunk of the film's running time. But when Miss Pettet is threatened with rape by a passing motorist, you might be forgiven for thinking enough is enough.
