Everybody thinks they can do a parody of Humphrey Bogart movies and writer Neil Simon is no exception. But the magic of the original material is strong and resists in stubborn style, making this no more than a mild and genial parody of both 'Casablanca' and 'The Maltese Falcon'. Peter Falk lays on the Bogey stuff as thick as treacle, and a formidable cast contributes some good laughs along the way, not least John Houseman who settles well into the Sydney Greenstreet tradition.
