Michael Powell's Australian idyll in which Helen Mirren, nude and nubile, raised the temperatures of cinemagoing males the world over, but subsequently decided to go back to the sterner stuff of the Royal Shakespeare Company, for whom she made a remarkable Lady Macbeth. James Mason still manages to register well as the artist trying to find himself and there are some breathtaking locations on and around the Great Barrier Reef.
