Based on fact, this drama centres on an outspoken black activist named Ray Ellsworth, accused of murdering two white police officers. With desirable attorneys either unavailable or too expensive, he is forced to settle for a white lawyer, a compassionate and dedicated man whose profound belief in justice compels him to tackle this highly explosive case. James Brolin stars as the lawyer, Dorian Harewood plays the accused man, and Alfre Woodard is the latter's devoted wife.
