A film biography of Jimmy Walker, Mayor of New York in the roaring Twenties, this is quite a pleasant excursion into romantic nostalgia, made at a time when Bob Hope was trying to widen the range of his appeal. The drama lacks bite, but the period atmosphere has a melancholy charm and there are some bright guest spots, including appearances by George Jessel, Jack Benny and Jimmy Durante.
