This 'kitchen-sink' answer to The Secret Life of Walter Mitty provides a welcome comedy role for Tom Courtenay as the young north country man who lives entirely in a dream world. He has strong competition, though, from the female contingent, especially Mona Washbourne as his down-to-earth mum, Julie Christie, well in character as his 'dream' girl, and Helen Fraser, charming in an irksome role. The superb photography by Denys Coop includes one marvellous shot of a runner on the skyline.
