Lin Shaye

The veteran actress is best known for her work in the films of the Farrelly Brothers, including Dumber & Dumber and There's Something About Mary.
The younger sister of New Line Cinema founder Robert Shaye, she made her stage debut in New York after studying at Columbia University.
After moving to Hollywood to pursue a film career, she made her big screen debut in 1975 as a prostitute in Joan Micklin's Hester Street.
She has racked more than sixty films including Wes Craven's New Nightmare on Elm Street, Do Me A Favour by Sandra Locke, Gus Van Sant's Even Cowgirls Get The Blues and Jack Nicholson's Goin¿ South.
In 1994, she played an irascible middle-class woman in the Farrelly Brothers' debut feature Dumber & Dumber.
The bad-taste masters have cast her in all their movies and even had her electrocuted by Matt Dillon in Something About Mary.
Recent work includes the effective B-movie chiller Dead End with Ray Wise.
