Rob Lowe always dreamed of becoming an actor since he was ten years old. Following his parents' divorce, Rob got his chance as he and younger brother Chad moved to LA with their mother.
He found work in commercials and landed a role in the
sitcom "A New Kind of Family" in 1979 before his film debut as Patrick Swayze's brother in Francis Ford Coppola's The Outsiders fours years later. The ball was rolling and Rob went on to win critical praise as well as a Golden Globe nomination for his performance as a mentally-challenged Texan in 1986's Square Dance.
His career took a change of direction, though, after a hilarious appearance on the popular sketch show Saturday Night Live with regular Dana Carvey.
It wasn't long before he was cavorting with Carvey and his partner in crime Mike Myers for the groundbreaking comic adventure Wayne's World.
His partnership with Myers had begun and he soon built on his comedic talent showcasing a strong Robert Wagner impersonation with his role as Young Number Two in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.
Rob returned to series television for the first time since 1979 with a regular role on "The West Wing" and earned an Emmy nomination for his work in 2001.
But only one year on, he decided to leave the hard-hitting drama after a dispute over pay.
