Levy - who is probably best known as the dad in the American Pie series - possesses the uncanny ability to steal every scene he's in.
And this ability has been milked by countless directors to rescue films that didn't really deserve it as well as those that did.
Levy began his career on the acclaimed comedy series SCTV, starring for eight seasons and portraying numerous characters.
Other TV credits include Hiller and Diller, Mad About You, The Drew Carey Show, Bride Of Boogedy, The Last Polka.
His first feature was Ivan Reitman's Cannibal Girls and he's gone on to feature in more than 60 movies.
Highpoints in a varied career include Splash!, Father of the Bride II, Speedzone, Multiplicity and National Lampoon's Vacation.
In 1992, he turned director with the comedy Once upon a Crime and co-starred on Best In Show and Waiting for Guffman, sharing writing credits on both films.
In American Pie and the sequels American Pie II and American Wedding, Levy brings his legendary comic talent to the role of Jim's dad.
In 2002 Levy starred in Like Mike with child star Jonathan Lipnicki and Bringing Down the House, starring Steve Martin.
He also played a corrupt principal in the lame prequel Dumb & Dumberer and a cuckolded folk singer in the amusing Christopher Guest spoof A Mighty Wind.
Recent work includes the lame New York Minute with celebrity marketing phenomena the Olsen twins and The Man with Samuel L Jackson.
