Jeffrey Tambor

An actor who has made his name in supporting character roles, Tambor has also literally supported numerous wannabe actors through his time as a drama teacher.
The tall, bald Mr Tambor used to teach acting before moving into theatre, performing with various rep theatres across the States.
Then he made the move across to TV, where he played roles in several mainstream sitcoms.
He made his film debut in his thirties in the Al Pacino courtroom drama ...And Justice For All (1979).
Other of his more notable films since, have been Mom (1983), as Michael Keaton's boss, City Slickers (1991), as Billy Crystal's boss, and Life Stinks (1991), as Mel Brooks' villainous rival.
Tambor is not known for only playing safe characters in safe films, having starred in horror spoofs, black comedies and out and out comedies amongst others.
More recently he has updated his film credits with his portrayal of Dr. Melvin Potts in Girl, Interrupted (1999), as Sully in There's Something About Mary (1998) and as Mayor Augustus Maywho in How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000).
