Kevin Reynolds
Born: 17 January 1952
Where: San Antonio, Texas, USA
Kevin started his professional life in court - as a lawyer in Texas.
Fed up with the job, and determined to rediscover his love of the cinema, he packed his bags and headed to LA in search of a career behind the lens.
Kevin enrolled in the University of Southern California and befriended future actor and director Kevin Costner.
It was at film school that Kevin was 'spotted' by Steven Spielberg, who gave him the opportunity to turn his student film Fandango into a full-length feature.
The Beast of War, starring Jason Patric and Stephen Baldwin, first brought Kevin real critical attention, but it was the hugely successful Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, starring his buddy Costner, that ensured his position amongst the ranks of Hollywood's top directors.
Waterworld, also starring Costner, was one of the most expensive films ever made - and Kevin directed it.
Since then he has worked on the swashbuckling adventure, The Count of Monte Cristo, and more recently, on a movie called creation, which has not yet gone into production.
