This action film with a vein of mystery threatens early on to settle down into being a lively thriller, but never really follows through. The source of the 800,000 dollars found on a 20-year-dead corpse by two border patrolmen (Kris Kristofferson, Treat Williams) is fairly obvious from the beginning, but the film spells it out for you at the end in case you missed it. Tess Harper is, as usual, wasted, while Rip Torn overacts grindingly as the senior patrolman who helps our heroes in their investigations. William Tannen's direction is too flat to be much help, but then he doesn't have a lot to work on from the start.
