This lumbering TV film only holds promise for fans of Robert Mitchum. Others may wish to steer clear, as he of the wooden face is joined by two chips off the old block in the forms of son Christopher Mitchum and grandson Bentley Mitchum (who are, guess what, estranged son and grandson in the story). And son and grandson's performances are in the same grain as those of Mitchum senior. Christopher Mitchum is supposed to be a fisherman, but, given the smart Santa Barbara setting, this is a trifle difficult to believe. Even less believable is Bentley's rebellious 18-year-old who looks like a rock star. Somehow, Claire Bloom got roped in for this one, which is some consolation, as is the gorgeous coastal scenery around Santa Barbara and Malibu.
