From the age of six Ivey decided she wanted to act and has carved out a career as a renowned New York stage actress.

She made he film debut in 1985 in Explorers and went on to appear in Orange County, The Kid, Simon Birch, Sabrina, The Scarlet Letter, Sleepless in Seattle and The Colour Purple.

On stage, she has earned Tony nominations for Heartbreak House, Sunday in the Park with George and The Last Night of Ballyhoo.

TV work includes Frasier, Law & Order and Homicide.

Recent film work includes Two Weeks Notice with Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock.
