Teen pin-up Jason Bateman was the popular star of the TV sitcom The Hogan Family when he was cast in this bizarre cross between 3 Men and a Baby and GoodFellas. And he delivers a strong central performance as a young man torn between love for his girlfriend and their young baby and his debt to the local Mafia hoods led by Frank (brother of Sylvester) Stallone. Things getty pretty complicated when fatherhood and the Brotherhood collide, but you still are left with the impression that this is really two different films in one and that, like oil and water, will never successfully gell.
