Mad but fun, this is a delightfully idiotic Hollywood comedy that was badly handled by its studio, adored by the critics and shunned by the public. Ronald Colman, as the unemployed genius seeking to win a fortune on a radio quiz (for reasons of revenge, not personal gain) shows himself a farceur with the lightest of touches, while Vincent Price is a wild-eyed delight as the nasty 'soap magnate' forever going into one of his 'trances'. And Caesar? He's a parrot who happens to like champagne, and he's voiced by Mel Blanc of Bugs Bunny fame. It's a sustained squawk that's full of fizz from beginning to end.
