American-football drama in which wealthy businessman Robert Culp will stop at nothing to ensure success for his old college football team. George Kennedy, an Oscar-winner for 'Cool Hand Luke', plays the team's over-the-hill ace. Surprisingly, this quintessentially American subject has been tackled by an Englishman, director Kevin Connor. The results, though, are pretty run of the maul.
