Poitier reunited with Ralph Nelson (for whom he made Lilies of the Field) in a slick chase thriller based on Peter Driscoll's bestseller. Filmed in Kenya, with the blessing of Kenyatta, this was one of the very first big-budget anti-apartheid pictures. What might have been just a re-run of The Defiant Ones is sharply lifted by Nicol Williamson as a paranoid State security chief and Michael Caine as Poitier's unwilling aide.
