Pity poor Susan Backlinie. After being devoured by a shark at the start of `Jaws', she's attacked by a wolf and birds of prey in this ecological thriller in which holidaymakers find themselves the prey of birds and animals deranged by the sun's radiation after the earth's ozone layer has been destroyed. By and large, this is better than you might expect from its cast of semi-stars, with some sensational special effects that rival anything in `The Birds', tight direction by William Girdler, and suspenseful cross-cutting that shows considerable skill. Certainly not a film to watch if you're trying to give up biting your nails. Veteran rubber-limbed comedian Gil Lamb has a cameo as an old codger in a bar.
