Glenn Close, a 12th-generation New Englander, is well cast in the role of Sarah, a plucky spinster from Maine, in this nicely made, if slightly predictable TV movie set in 1910 Kansas. She answers the advertisement placed in the paper by widowed Christopher Walken for someone to come and look after him and his two children on their lonely farm. The plot is entirely foreseeable, with Sarah doing her best to deal with the kids and learning farm life. Walken is pretty sombre as the farmer but the kids (Lexi Randall and Christopher Bell) are very appealing. Although there is a lack of real dramatic tension, it's a warm-hearted family film, with some beautiful location photography.
