Woody Allen's first film as his own director is a hotch-potch comedy about a bungling criminal who spends more time behind bars than on the outside. But forget the uneven storyline and enjoy it for what it is - a non-stop cavalcade of sight gags and inspired one-liners, with two splendid sequences involving Woody a) trying to rob a bank and b) attempting to escape from prison with a gun made of soap.
