Stephen Hopkins
Born: 1958
Where: Jamaica
Stephen was raised in London, England where he started work as an album cover designer, and then became a storyboard artist for Russell Mulcahy, then a director of videos.
He next advanced to the position of set designer on Mulcahy's music videos.
In 1983, he relocated to Australia where he re-teamed with Mulcahy, serving as second unit director on action sequences in the sci-fi cult hit Highlander.
This led to Stephen's own directorial debut in 1987 with Dangerous Game. But his Hollywood directorial debut came with the fifth instalment of the Nightmare on Elm Street series.
His next features were Predator 2, and Judgment Night, starring Denis Leary and Emilio Estevez, and Blown Away.
In 1998, Stephen then switched gears to direct the big screen adaptation of the campy 1960s TV series Lost in Space, after which he directed Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman and Monica Bellucci in the gripping movie, Under Suspicion.
