The wildcats of the title are oil-drilling pioneers, with John Wayne and Albert Dekker as rivals in the oilfields of old Oklahoma. Songthrush Dale Evans, soon to marry cowboy star Roy Rogers and appear exclusively in his films, plays a character called Cuddles and gets to sing 'Put Your Arms Around Me, Honey'. Red-headed glamour star Rhonda Fleming is supposed to have made her debut in this film, but little if any of her role seems to have been left in the finished version. Lots of vigour, little subtlety.
