Dashing racing drivers and their girls disappear in the fog in this enjoyable slice of horror hokum, set in the Twenties. Peter Cushing plays a defrocked clergyman with a terrible secret in the attic. John Hurt goes gloriously over the top as his loony gardener. The ghoul of the title is played by Don Henderson, later the star of TV's Bullman and The Paradise Club. Cliché-ridden, perhaps, but fair ghoulish fun, rattled along in vigorous style by veteran horror director Freddie Francis.
