This vintage John Ford Western, starring John Wayne, was a landmark for the duo in that it was their first colour movie together. It tells the story of three bank raiders (Wayne, Pedro Armendariz, Harry Carey Jr) who become saddled with a baby when its mother dies in the desert. From then on the film maintains a good balance between suspense, sentiment and some grim humour. 'The best and surest way of feeding the baby,' Carey reads from a manual, 'is the one which nature has provided' 'Well,' growls Wayne, 'that's out! ' Over half-a century old, the film still holds up today.
