The question has to be asked: what on earth is Gene Kelly doing in this mindless piece of junk which is purely a vehicle (excuse the pun) to show off an ageing Evel Knievel's considerable driving and riding skills. There's a very flimsy plot about drug-traffickers wanting to bump Evel off so they can use his car to smuggle their contraband and plenty of excuses for some spectacular car stunts but this is a shameless piece of tawdry tack - rather like a cheap prize from a fun fair. Not only Kelly had to put this on his CV - the cast also includes Red Buttons, Lauren Hutton, Dabney Coleman and Leslie Nielsen (and no it isn't a spoof).
