It's five years on and the bachelor guys from 3 Men and a Baby are still living together in harmony with baby Mary (now Robin Weisman) whose actress mother Sylvia (Nancy Travis) returned several years back, and is secretly adored by Peter (Tom Selleck), who can't find the words to tell her.
You know what we mean: silly characters and situations, but fun anyway.
Even when the trio pursues Sylvia to England, where she plans to marry, there's still some merriment to be had, although most of it seems to stem from a study of British comedies of the Fifties.
This is especially true of Fiona Shaw's portrait of a man-hungry headmistress which, scene-stealing though it is, reminds you of one of Joyce Grenfell's old cameos which were (amusing) anachronisms when she did them.
With the American scenes, everyone's on firmer ground: Selleck again recalls Clark Gable, but proves himself better at light comedy than the King ever was.
Ted Danson has the showiest role, and carries it off with great confidence and panache: he's the real laughter-getter here.
And a 'rap' lullaby the three men do to send Mary to sleep is a genuine show-stopper.
By and large, this is more fun than the original.
