This true story about the presidential press secretary who was critically injured when would-be assassin John Hinckley tried to murder President Reagan in 1981 give Beau Bridges one of his most dramatic roles in years. He gives a fine, powerful performance as James Brady, the man caught in the cross-fire, who battles long and hard towards recovery. He is given dramatic support by Joan Allen as his wife and David Strathairn as the doctor on his case. The drama is tersely but sympathetically handled by director Michael Toshiyuki Uno. A good story well told.
